ASBMB Honor Society

2018 ASBMB Honor Society inductees  

The ASBMB Honor Society (ΧΩΛ) recognizes exceptional undergraduate juniors and seniors pursuing degrees in the molecular life sciences at colleges or universities with ASBMB Student Chapters. Students are recognized for their scholarly achievement, research accomplishments and outreach activities.

January 31, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST. 

Nomination Process
To be eligible, undergraduate nominees must fulfill all of the following requirements: 

  • Nominees must be members of the ASBMB Student Chapters.  
  • Nominees must be juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.  
  • Nominees must demonstrate exceptional achievement in academics, undergraduate research and science outreach.  

Nomination materials may be submitted by either a faculty member of the ASBMB or by the student member using the online system. Nomination materials must include:                                                                                              

  • A completed  ASBMB Honor Society application form  
  • A copy of an official or unofficial transcript indicating science courses taken and overall GPA
  • Faculty reference forms and two reference letters. These letters should address the student's research, outreach activities and academic achievements. 
  • Advisers wishing to submit a confidential letter of support may submit it directly to

Election into the Honor Society
Upon election into ΧΩΛ, the ASBMB will request a high resolution photo with a complete photo consent form and a short biography from the student for publication on the ASBMB website. The student also will be recognized during the ASBMB Exemplary Contributions to Education award lecture at the  ASBMB annual meeting. Those unable to attend the annual meeting will be sent an official certificate and ΧΩΛ lapel pin.
