Visas
ASBMB warmly welcomes participants from around the globe to the 2026 Annual Meeting. To ensure a smooth travel experience, review the following visa guidelines:
Apply early
- Initiate your visa application promptly: Due to increased processing times and enhanced security screenings, it's recommended to apply for your visa at least four to five months before your intended travel date.
- Do not wait for registration confirmation: Begin your visa application process as soon as you decide to attend the meeting, even if you haven't received your registration confirmation.
Enhanced screening measures
- Social media vetting: The U.S. Department of State has implemented stricter screening procedures, including the review of applicants' social media activity.
- Suspension of new visa appointments: As of May 2025, new student and exchange visitor visa appointments (F, M, J categories) have been temporarily paused pending further guidance.
Visa appointment wait times
Check current visa appointment wait times on the U.S. State Department's website.
