Teresa earned a B.S. with a double major in Chemistry and Psychology from Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio in 2009. She has been a graduate student at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio for 5 years, where she is currently undertaking her Ph.D. dissertation research project in the lab of Dr. Holly Van Remmen. Her studies address the role of traumatic brain injury on the progression of peripheral nervous system pathologies as well as the effects of novel therapies on the progression of ALS. Teresa has been instrumental in the creation and progression of the trainee led group for science outreach, Trainee Meetings Outside the Box.

Trainee Meetings Outside the Box (TMOB) has been extremely well received amongst graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. The mission of TMOB is to provide a structured setting for the discussion and development of scientific communication skills for trainees at UTHSCSA. The skills and knowledge gained from this forum will serve as a foundation for the effective communication of science and facilitated trainee career progression.
