ASBMB publishes three prestigious research journals and a monthly magazine covering society news, committee activities, member achievements and news of interest to our members. ASBMB's journals publish original research in the fields of microbiology, molecular genetics, RNA-related research, proteomics, genomics, transcription, peptides, cell signaling, lipidomics and systems biology. All articles undergo an extensive peer-review process and are published online as Papers in Press upon acceptance.

The Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC)
Mission Statement: The Journal of Biological Chemistry publishes papers based on original research that are judged to make a novel and important contribution to understanding the molecular and cellular basis of biological processes.
For more than 100 years, the JBC has been an essential resource for the international community of biomedical researchers. Today, the Journal continues to be a standard-bearer for excellence in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology.
Open access to JBC papers: The ideal of open access publishing is that all papers are available free to everyone from the day they are published. The JBC has been a model of the spirit of open access publishing, while alleviating authors of the full burden of publication costs by continuing to recover a portion of the costs from subscriptions. The JBC was among the first to introduce a form of open access in 1996 when all back issues of JBC Online became free to everyone at the end of each calendar year. The JBC subsequently introduced free access to all journal content on a rolling 12-month basis. The JBC has also led in providing free access of current content to many low-income countries without subscriptions. In 2001, the JBC introduced Papers in Press, which is the practice of publishing the manuscript version of an accepted paper on the day it is accepted. Publication as a JBC Paper in Press reduces the average time from acceptance to publication from 8 weeks to one day. All manuscripts accepted by the JBC appear as Papers in Press immediately upon acceptance, and these remain freely accessible on the journal site at all times after the initial posting. JBC Reflections, Editorials, and Classics are freely available to all from the date of publication.

Molecular & Cellular Proteomics (MCP) showcases contributions that describe the structural and functional properties of proteins and their expression, particularly with respect to developmental time courses. Emphasis is placed on determining how the presence or absence of proteins affect biological responses, and how the interaction of proteins with their cellular partners influences their functions.
