Monday April 4, 2016
12:30 - 2 PM
San Diego Convention Center, Room 6A

Storytelling is an essential component of communication, used by everyone from journalists to comedians to musicians to bring esoteric subjects to broad audiences. Mastering this skill requires not only topical knowledge but also creative flexibility and dexterity with language.

In this interactive session presented by the ASBMB Public Outreach Committee, organizers will lead participants through hands-on storytelling training, based on one of the modules from ASBMB’s new training course, “The Art of Science Communication.” Participants will hear examples from professional storytellers, including ASBMB Chief Science Correspondent Raj Mukhopadhyah, and get pointers on how to translate scientific research into cohesive, compelling stories, before having a chance to put what they’ve learned to use as they work collectively to develop a story based on a sample topic.

Come join us for what promises to be the one workshop you’ll be able to tell everyone about!
