Undergraduate Faculty Travel Award

Faculty applicants must be the first author on the abstract associated with the travel award application and unique from any abstract(s) submitted by a student. Faculty applicants may submit abstracts to any ASBMB topic category (scientific or educational).
 
The ASBMB will competitively award travel funding of up to $500.00 US to assist undergraduate faculty presenting research at the ASBMB Annual Meeting.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant must successfully submit an abstract as first/presenting author to an ASBMB topic category #2000-2324 by the Nov. 17 abstract deadline. Abstracts submitted to other sponsoring societies' topic categories and late-breaking abstracts do not qualify.
  • Preference will be given to faculty advisers of ASBMB Student Chapters. To qualify as a member, membership dues must be paid in full for the billing cycle which includes the Annual Meeting (Jan-Dec 2017) prior to application submission.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

The following documents must be uploaded at the time of application submission as PDF files. See Travel Award Instructions for instructions on formatting and labeling supporting documents.

  • Abstract - copy of your successfully submitted abstract as first/presenting author to an ASBMB topic category #2000-2324.  Applicant must be the first/presenting author of an abstract submission that is unique from any student abstract submissions  
  • Course list  - of courses you teach and description of your student population
  • Meeting attendance objectives - a one to two page statement explaining your objectives for attending the meeting and describing your plans for achieving these objectives once you return to your institution

PLEASE NOTE: The ASBMB Undergraduate Poster Competition will need volunteer faculty judges. Sign up and event details will be available soon. Volunteer judges will not receive preference for the Faculty Travel Award though.
