Show your “love” for science and outreach by participating in the Undergraduate Affiliate Network (UAN) first annual national “week of outreach,” February 10th through the 14th. In honor of Valentine’s Day, the theme will be the heart. We encourage UAN chapters to organize blood drives or organ or marrow donation awareness programs.
Students can make the event an opportunity to educate the public about the biochemistry and molecular biology of blood, marrow and related diseases.
Participating chapters will have a chance to enter into a special drawing for a secret prize!
Suggested organizations include:
Keep it fun! Fun stuff:
- t-shirts with picture of hemoglobin
- facebook and posts
- blood type stickers
- heart tattoos
Timeline - Groups need to:
- Contact the host organization and get information on how to set up the event
- Choose a date and make campus arrangements
- Publicize events
- Create posters and other education displays (share these on Facebook!)
- Create t-shirts (share designs!)
Students can make the event an opportunity to educate the public about the biochemistry and molecular biology of blood, marrow and related diseases. Keep good records- annual events are the easiest way for a UAN to continue service work. Finally- Send your information, feedback and pics back to ASBMB in order to be entered in the drawing! Winner to be announced at the 2014 ASBMB Annual Meeting undergraduate poster session.
