In her final message as president, Suzanne Pfeffer writes of the “rich and rewarding experience” of leading ASBMB and offers thanks to many staff and volunteers. She writes, in part, "Without reservation, service to this society has been a rich and rewarding experience."

ASBMB Public Affairs Director Benjamin Corb announces the society’s summer challenge: 100 volunteers to set up meetings with 100 members of Congress to advocate for funding for scientific research and development before sessions begin again in the fall.

Included here are honors for James E. Darnell Jr. and Robert G. Roeder from The Rockefeller University, Susan Stapleton from Western Michigan University, Stuart B. Levy from Tufts University School of Medicine, Alexander Varshavsky from the California Institute of Technology, Elizabeth H. Blackburn from the University of California, San Francisco, and José Argüello from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Also, we feature recent inductees into the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
