  • Parking on campus: 
    Lot C is the designated lot for meeting attendees.
    Parking passes are required and must be requested 30 days or more in advance of the meeting,
  • Airport:
    Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is approx. 55 minutes from campus by car.

    Taxi service is NOT readily available from Kansas City Airport - please see shuttle service below. 


Complimentary, scheduled, airport shuttle service will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Shuttles can accommodate up to 45 passengers, allowing for ample room to accommodate our attendees arriving on July 30th and departing on August 2nd. 
No reservations are accepted for this shuttle service.
Shuttles will be wrapped in designs clearly identifying them as Missouri Western State University shuttles.

Once the shuttle leaves the Kansas City Airport, the travel time to Missouri Western State University is approximately 45-55 minutes. 

FYI to travelers: Thursday's dinner is at 6:00 pm.  Those wanting lunch should purchase food at the airport prior to departing for MWSU.

Wait outside of the terminal building at the bus shelters (same as for rental car bus pick up).  Attendees waiting inside the terminal building are NOT visible to the driver.

Only the scheduled shuttles listed above on July 30th are offered for complimentary use by our meeting attendees.   If you miss the scheduled shuttle service for any reason you are on your own for transportation to the University, or you may wait for the next scheduled shuttle.

The times listed above on August 2nd are the departure times from MWSU.  Sign-up for return airport shuttles will be available at the meeting registration desk.  If your travel plans require transportation at a time other than the scheduled shuttles, you are on your own to arrange transportation.

Attendees must be waiting at the designated pick-up area 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.  In consideration of your fellow attendees, be punctual or early.

The Full Conference Registration Package includes housing accommodations for all nights of the meeting (check-in on Jul 30 and check-out on Aug 2).  All housing arrangements must be made directly through ASBMB's registration site.

  • Housing confirmations: 
    ASBMB will send a final confirmation email with your arrival/departure dates and check-in location at least one week before the start of the symposium. 
  • Room Amenities:
    All accommodations are located on campus in close proximity to/view of the Fulkerson Center.  The MWSU dormitories are comfortable, climate controlled facilities.

    All rooms are single accommodation with shared bath
    . Apartment style spaces include four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small living area and kitchen.  Kitchens are not outfitted during the summer session.

    What is provided:
    In-room wifi
    Linen package consisting of bed sheets, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, and towels. Bed linens will be distributed on beds, prior to check in; however, beds are not made. 

    For your comfort, bring all toiletry items except toilet paper.
  • Early arrival/late departure: For attendees traveling long distances with flight schedules requiring an early arrival or late departure, a limited number of on-campus rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.  The option for an additional night’s stay (check-in on July 29 and/or check-out on August 3) will be part of the meeting registration process.  Again, this option will be available during the registration process.
