Matchmaker for Science

12/29/09 -- National Lab Day (NLD), dubbed by its founder Jack Hidary as the "eHarmony of Science", provides an online platform for scientists and science teachers across the country to connect, learn and contribute to K-12 science education. According to NLD developers, "National Lab Day is more than just a day. It's a nationwide initiative to build local communities of support (hubs) that will foster ongoing collaborations among volunteers, students and educators". Science teachers use NLD to submit requests for science projects in their classrooms. NLD matches their requests to volunteers based on areas of expertise and interests. Volunteers can be university students, scientists, engineers and community members interested in STEM education. Visit the National Lab Day website for more information. Read the Science article on NLD.
