In it's quarterly publication titled Liberal Education, the Association of American Colleges and Universities draws from a recent initiative of the Teagle Foundation and presents a series of reports on the relationship between the goals and objectives of liberal education and those of the undergraduate major in each of six disciplines: biochemistry and molecular biology, classics, economics, English and foreign languages, history, and religious studies. Topics to be covered include how colleges can reach groups of students who have lagged in participation in research, how to develop a plan to improve participation of all groups, how to develop appropriate measures for success, and how expanding undergraduate research will affect not only the students but also professors and institutions.
