June 6, 2009--Former ASBMB President Susan Taylor has been named the winner of the 2010 FASEB Excellence in Science Award. Dr. Taylor is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego, a Senior Fellow at the San Diego Supercomputer Center and an HHMI investigator. Dr. Taylor's work focuses on cyclic adenosine monophosphate–dependent protein kinase, or protein kinase A (PKA). Dr. Taylor was ASBMB president in 1995.
FASEB Excellence in Science awardees receive $10,000 in research funding from Eli Lilly and Company and present a special lecture at a FASEB member society meeting. Dr. Taylor will present her lecture at the 2010 ASBMB Annual Meeting in Anaheim.
Dr. Taylor received the William C. Rose Award in 2007.
