Embryonic stem cell treatments help eye disease patients

A recent paper from the medical journal The Lancet describes a treatment using retinal cells derived from human embryonic stem cells injected into the eyes of two blind patients. Four months after the injection, the patients have experienced no harmful side effects and have even reported improved vision. This paper represents the first published results from a clinical trial using hESCs. Read reports by The New York Times, ScienceInsider and Nature News Blog.
