Office of Science and Technology Policy budget cut by 32% for FY12

While science funding agencies, like the National Science Foundation, fared well in the recent “minibus” spending bill, ScienceInsider reports the Office of Science and Technology Policy received a budget cut of 32% for fiscal year 2012, from $6.6 million to $4.5 million. Included in the spending bill was language that prohibits OSTP from engaging in actives with the Chinese government that carried the risk of transferring “sensitive” science and technology data. See the full conference report here and go to page 84 for the section dealing with the OSTP.
