A new
report commissioned by the Association of American Medical Colleges describes the economic impact of publicly funded research. The report states federal- and state-funded research at AAMC-member medical schools and teaching hospitals added $45 billion to the U.S. economy and supported almost 300,000 jobs in 2009.
