Today the National Institutes of Health have
announced that Chris Kaiser will become the new director of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences in spring 2012. Dr. Kaiser is a leading cell biologist and the head of the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Kaiser will replace Judith Greenberg who became acting director of NIGMS in July 2011 after the departure of ASBMB President-elect, Jeremy Berg, who had served as director since 2003.
