Meeting Overview

The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is pleased to welcome you to the main site of the Special Symposium Frontiers in Lipid Biology.  This is a joint meeting with the International Conference on Bioscience of Lipids (ICBL) and the Canadian Lipoprotein Conference (CLC).  This unique first time syposium for ASBMB will be the 53rd annual meeting for the ICBL and the 37th annual meeting for the CLC.

In the last decade there have been significant gains in our knowledge of metabolic diseases related to lipid biochemistry.  The program will focus on the fundamental research that is leading to these developments, particularly in the emerging areas of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, lung pathology and endocannabinoid biochemistry.  New techniques used to investivate these areas of lipid biology will be emphasized.  This is a must attend event for scientists of all career stages to hear from top scientists from around the world and to present their research through oral and poster presentations.
 Main Topics:

                    • Triacylglycerol metabolism
                    • Phospholipid function
                    • Lipid signaling and trafficking
                    • Cholesterol Metabolism
                    • Genetics of lipid diseases
                    • Fatty acid metabolism
                    • Lipids and disease
